In 2021, we dedicated the race to Ron Shields as he was always involved with running either with the road runners and help restart and coach the cross-country team at West Perry. In honor of him, we have renamed the Perry 5000 the Ron Shields Perry 5000. The 5k starts at 9:30am and the mile walk, and fun runs starts after the 5k is finished.
