Tom Walks Behind the Glacier: Geology

Sunday, June 22

Ringwood, IL

Official Website

Description

Description

Join research ecologist Tom Simpson and Colonel Palmer House Supervisor Sarah Taylor to explore geology and how the land shaped both nature and people!

Everyone knows that glaciers once covered McHenry County, but did you know that wetlands, prairies, and oak woodlands of McHenry County, the village sites, hunting grounds, and avenues of travel of indigenous peoples, and the corn fields, pastures, and towns of early European settlement times, all follow the geographic patterns set by the ice. Enjoy a walk in Glacial Park as we walk behind the glaciers and experience the landscape they left behind.

This event is in person and will not be recorded. However we have many webinars recorded that you can view any time on our @DiscoverMCCD YouTube channel under the Tom Talks playlist!

This event will happen rain or shine, so please come dressed appropriately for the weather.

Please contact Jackie Bero at [email protected] or (815) 219-1549 if you have any questions or recommendations for future Tom Talks topics.
