The Lake Travis Winter 24HR gives you the freedom to begin your marathon or half-marathon journey at any point during our 24-hour window. Run when it suits you best – under the winter sun, beneath the stars and moonlight, or at the break of dawn.
Challenge yourself in this unique winter endurance event along the stunning shores of Lake Travis! Unlike traditional races, the Lake Travis Winter 24HR gives you the freedom to begin your marathon or half-marathon journey at any point during our 24-hour window.
Both marathon and half marathon courses are designed to showcase the beauty of Lake Travis during the day and by moonlight while providing a challenging but achievable winter day and night running experience. The looped course format allows you to become familiar with the terrain as time progresses.
This isn't your typical race! Our 24-hour format allows you to:
Start your marathon (26.2 miles) or half-marathon (13.1 miles) at ANY time during the 24-hour window
Run a beautiful day time 4.17-mile loop course with lake views and gentle rolling hills and a different night time course.
Take breaks between loops if needed
Experience Lake Travis in daylight, sunset, and starlight
This event emphasizes self-sufficiency and determination. A simple self-service water station will be available at the start/finish area, but runners are responsible for their own nutrition and hydration between loops. No pacers, no crew, no outside assistance - just you and the trail.
This isn't just about endurance - it's about being prepared for the challenges of day and night trail running. All participants must carry the following items throughout the night portion of the event:
300+ lumens recommended
Secondary light in case primary fails
Sufficient for the entire duration
Fully charged for emergency use
Capacity to carry water between loops
For signaling in case of emergency
Prepared for overnight temperature changes
While awards are simple - challenge recognition coin or medal - the real reward comes from pushing your limits during the day and under the Texas night sky. Finishers of both distances opting for the night portion of the race, receive a unique night trail running medal commemorating their achievement.
The event runs rain or shine, though the race director reserves the right to modify or cancel the event in case of severe weather. No refunds, transfers, or deferrals are available.
