Description

The Rich Weiss Race is a staple race for the Club. Slalom boats are not required for the race and many participants race in plastic boats. The race is named for American Olympian Richard Weiss who spent many years training with the Chilliwack Centre of Excellence at the Tamihi Rapids throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Rich left our small community too early in an incident on the White Salmon River in Washington a year after his tremendous 5th place performance at the 1996 Olympics. The 2025 Rich Weiss will be held on April 27, 2025 at the CCE Paddling Club whitewater race site at the Tamihi Rapids, Chilliwack River. Details Cost: Flat rate for all participants is $20.  Prefer paper registration? - no problem, you can register on April 27 by visiting the registration table on race day. Cash only on race day.  Open practice with course set will be available from Thursday evening through Saturday. Turn left at Chilliwack Lake Road and drive 12 km. The site is located directly to the left once you cross the Tamihi Bridge. Cell reception is limited.
