We will meet at Washington-Liberty high school track. There will be eight practices/meet-ups: four (4) track-based workouts and four (4) low-intensity group neighborhood runs. All kids who finish the program will receive a medal.
We will start with light bodyweight work to warm up before each session - kids AND parents.
There will be an optional group 5k "race" at Bluemont Park on Saturday, June 7th to wrap up the season! There will be post-run snacks and prizes.
Schedule:
Thursdays from 5:30-6:15pm.
April 10th, 24th; May 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th; and June 5th. Note there will be no practice on April 17th, which is over APS's spring break.
We will alternate weeks between a higher-intensity track-based workout and low-key neighborhood groups runs of 1.5-3.5 miles. **If the track is closed due to a spring sports event, we may switch days with a group run.
Track work may include: proper warm up technique, basic strength moves, running drills, form work, sprint repeats, endurance laps, and/or practice races. Parents are encouraged to join both track work and the group runs!
