Celebrate Freedom and Fitness at the SPECS Movement’s Annual Juneteenth 2.5-Mile Run/Walk or Yoga!

Join The SPECS Movement along with our partners Keller ISD Families for Public Education and Dignity for All Texas Students on Friday, June 13, 2025, for a memorable day of community, commemoration, and challenge at Bear Creek Park in Keller, TX.   Juneteenth commemorates the day when the last community of enslaved Americans in Galveston, Texas, received word that they had been freed from bondage 2.5 years after the emancipation proclamation was signed.   This Run/Walk is 2.5 miles in memorial of that day.

The SPECS Movement is an anti-racism and cultural understanding organization that seeks to create opportunities to see life through the perspective of others. 

This special event, held in honor of Juneteenth, promises an invigorating run/walk through the picturesque park setting.  This is a family friendly event, and all paces are welcome!  Kids are welcome to ride their bikes or scooters. 

All proceeds will go towards The SPECS Movement annual MLK Day Scholarship fund

Yoga

And for those who prefer an alternative to running or walking, Yoga will also be available!  The Yoga instruction will be provided by Nikela from Connective Souls.  (Please bring your own Yoga mat.)

Registration Includes:

• Custom-designed event T-shirt (when choosing the event with T-shirt option)
• Pre and post-run refreshments.  This year we will have Tacos!
• Whether you’re a seasoned runner or looking for a fun way to get active, the Juneteenth 2.5-mile run is the perfect opportunity to hit the pavement in the spirit of freedom and fellowship. 
• Bike and scooter decorating for kids
• Feel free to bring children 12 and under free of charge (if you would like a T-shirt for your child you will need to choose the paid "with the T-Shirt" registration option)

• Location:   Bear Creak Running Co.  (Located in Keller Town Center, 121 Rufe Snow Dr #103, Keller, TX 76248)

*Because we are running the event on Friday this year we will also have Packet Pickup available at the event; however, if possible please pick up ahead of time
