Women Rock Tutu Run Part 11 Presents MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS RUN

Sunday, June 22

Philadelphia, PA

Official Website

Description

1 in 5 women in the U.S. experience a mental health condition like anxiety or depression each year.
Women are twice as likely as men to experience depression, and many suffer without seeking help due to stigma, fear, or lack of support.
Hormonal changes (e.g., during menstruation, pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause) can impact a woman’s mental health significantly.
Black, Indigenous, and women of color often face additional layers of trauma, systemic racism, and underdiagnosis when it comes to mental health support.
Trauma and abuse—including emotional, physical, or sexual abuse—are strongly linked to higher rates of anxiety, PTSD, and depression in women.
60% of women with anxiety never receive treatment, often due to fear of judgment or being perceived as “weak.”
Mental health is just as important as physical health. Untreated mental illness can affect sleep, heart health, immunity, and relationships.
Social media and cultural expectations often pressure women to appear “perfect” while silently struggling underneath.
Self-care isn’t selfish. Setting boundaries, saying “no,” and asking for help are acts of strength, not weakness.
You are not alone. There is help available—therapy, support groups, hotlines, and community support can make a huge difference.
