Bellefonte, PA
Official WebsiteThe NVRC/19th annual Herbie's Home Town Loop 4 mile run/walk will be held on Saturday, August 2rd beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Rogers Stadium
If you can not participate in the run/walk, we are looking for volunteers on race day.
Jeremy Herbstritt was a 1998 Bellefonte Area High School graduate who loved life and the outdoors. He, and 31 other students and professors, were killed during a mass shooting on April 16, 2007 at Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Virginia.
Herbie’s Home “Town Loop” was created by Jeremy's family and friends in 2007 to remember and honor him, and give something back to the community who gave so much to them in their time of grief.
We started this labor of love 19 years ago to build a track in the Bellefonte area to allow our home school to practice and compete and provide a place for our community to gather and enjoy the outdoors and some exercise. Our dream was realized in 2019 when the Jeremy Herbstritt and Lt Jonas Martin Panik US Navy premier track and field facility became a reality at Rogers Stadium.
This year's beneficiary is Rees Stewart (& family)
Rees Stewart is a cowboy in every sense of the word! He loves his chickens, his black cowboy hat, and is tough as nails. That toughness came in handy when he was diagnosed with Leukemia in August 2024. Instead of taking on his freshman year at BAHS, he took on weeks and weeks of cancer treatment, surrounded by his amazing mother, stepfather, and little brother Chase (a 4th grader at MW), as well as an army of friends and community. His mother never left his side (every day) as his stepdad held down the fort at home with Chase's help. Through 5 months of treatments and spending most of their time, including holidays, in the hospital, Rees has stayed strong and kept his cowboy attitude of never giving up. In April of 2025, Rees was able to ring the bell at Janet Weis Childrens' Hospital, signally he was done with treatment and officially in remission!! He has been able to join his best friends back at school a few days a week as he builds his strength and immune system back up. We are so very thankful, and proud, to have Rees, and the rest of the Stewart family, as part of our BAHS family.
All participants are encouraged to visit the Bellefonte Arts & Crafts Fair in downtown Bellefonte on August 1-2. You can take a free shuttle down from the high school after the race.
