On Saturday, May 20th, the UAB Pediatrics Residency Program will host the 17th Annual Spring Scramble 5K Road Race! We are excited to continue this annual tradition in Homewood, AL. The pre-race event begins at 4 pm, and the race will start promptly at 6:30 pm. Back by popular demand, we will also have a Virtual 5K race option (t-shirt and race packet included)! Please register by April 30th, 2023 to guarantee your shirt size. New this year: kids under 12 can register to run for free with an adult (option to purchase the race day shirt separately for $18)! Packet pickup will be at Children's of Alabama on Friday, May 19th or at Trak Shak on the day of the event starting at 4pm. If you are running virtually, your t-shirt and race packet will be mailed to you after the event.

Prior to the race from 4-6:30 pm., we will have music, door prizes, and other fun activities!! The race will be followed by music and food! Medals will be awarded by age group! This event is family (including runners with strollers) and dog-friendly, so bring your whole crew to enjoy the event.

The Spring Scramble helps promote the health and well-being of the Birmingham area's children, especially in underserved populations. This year, the funds will go toward our resident-run community outreach and advocacy organization, the Coat of Arms. The group's efforts are numerous including: local health fairs, Reach Out and Read initiatives promoting childhood literacy, UAB Blazer Kitchen partnership, infant safe sleep initiatives, and holiday gift drives.
