Official WebsiteWelcome to the 2024 Goat Mountain Gallop. For 2024, the Goat offers an 8k run or walk and a 15k run or walk. Our course has been redesigned to feature a few additional hills and a more scenic route. The course starts and ends on the track at Molalla High School’s Heckard Field. Please note that the track and field is approximately one mile south of the High School. Please come to the track.
Registration: Online registration begins on December 1, 2023, and it closes at midnight on March 7, 2024. Very limited in person registration is available on race day from 7:15 a.m. until 7:45 a.m. Cash or checks only--credit cards will not be accepted on race day.
Time: Races begin at 8:00 a.m. The course closes at 11 a.m. As always, the Goat Mountain Gallop supports the Molalla High School track and field and cross country programs, and your support is greatly appreciated..
Date: Saturday, March 9, 2024
Location: On the track, Heckard Field, Molalla, Oregon (on Eckerd Avenue between Main Street (Hwy. 211) and E. 5th Street. Our track is not at the high school. The track is about one mile south of the high school, a few blocks south of Main Street (Highway 211).
Races: The 2024 Goat will feature a 15K run or walk and a 8K run or walk. There will be a limit of 225 participants.
The Course: The course is a scenic 15 K loop and an 8K loop. In Goat Mountain Gallop tradition, there are hills. There are ample flat spaces too. The course begins and ends at Heckard Field. Find course maps here: https://www.facebook.com/GoatMountainGallop
Race hats will be available as part of the registration fee for all who register on or before February 14, 2024. Custom designed Goat themed ornaments will be available for all finishers. Remember to register on or before February 14 to receive a hat.
Aid Stations: Water will be available at the start/finish area and at the approximate 2.5 and 7 mile marks.
Awards: Special Goat Mountain Gallop hats will be provided to all who register on or before February 14. 2024. Custom awards will be awarded to the overall male and female 8K and 15K run and walk winners. We’re developing a custom item for all finishers. We will be asking local merchants to donate items for random prize drawings. Your bib number will be your entry for the random drawings.
Safety: Runners and walkers are responsible for their own safety. The course will be run on the track, a paved trail shared by others out walking or riding, and city and county roads. Roads will be open to traffic at all times. Runners are expected to run on the left side of the road facing traffic while on city or county streets. There will be course monitors on the course to help with directions and staff aid stations. Signs will also be posted to warn motorists and others that there is a race in progress and to use caution.
For your safety, we strongly recommend that headphones and strollers not be used during this event.
About the Goat: The Goat Mountain Gallop is back for its 39th running. Our goal for the Goat is to create a fantastic experience for all who participate. And, as always, proceeds support the Molalla High School track and field and cross country programs by providing funding used to purchase needed equipment and supplies. Most of our race workers are members of these programs and will benefit directly from your generosity.
ENTRY FEES INCREASE AFTER JANUARY 31.
GOAT MOUNTAIN GALLOP HATS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE TO THOSE WHO REGISTER BEFORE FEBRUARY 14. Registration fees go up on January 31 and March 7.
