One Epic Run

The Preserve of Lakewood

April 17th 2022

Welcome to the resurrected One Epic Run. This race will bring back some muddy memories with a mix of rain and nostalgia. One Epic Run is coming back in 2022 to a new venue! The energy, atmosphere, and tradition will be the same! This FREE 24 hour race will accept donations that will go directly to the preserve to maintain the new trail system and build our a few amenities for the public's use.

One Epic 24 Hour will open for registration on Jan 1st at Midnight. The race will be capped at 250 runners, with only 100 of them allowed for camping. The race is free but the primitive campsites will be $15 for the weekend. All donations are welcome and the camping and donations will go directly to the Preserve at Lakewood to maintain the facility in hopes to have a sustainable park for the public by the Spring of 2021.

Welcome to the Upstate Ultra Trail Series brought to you by the South Carolina Ultra Marathon Club. We are proud to bring in a series of events that range in distance, terrain, and season! The Preserve

The course currently is a 2.5 mile relatively flat loop with no roots, no water crossings, and minimal shade. With enough funding we plan on developing a 5k course out at the preserve that has over 150 acres! The course will have a series of directional arrows (both yellow and green) that will be placed  at various intersections. Please follow all directional arrows to stay on course. In the event that you make a wrong turn please backtrack to your original spot of confusion. Cutting the course (even if unintentionally will lead to a disqualification)

Personal Tent Set Up - Drop Bags

Athletes who are not camping are permitted to have a drop bag or personal tent near the aid station. Please be mindful to place your personal belongings off the course as to not impede the runners, the flow of traffic, or other race participants. The start and finish line loop will serve as the official drop bag area designation. When you are finished with your race please "pack in and pack out" making the host facility look better than you found it.

Address/Parking State Park

Address is 220 Lakewood Drive Greenville, SC 29607. There is a Green House across the street from the Black Gate with a sign that will be open for the weekend. DO NOT park at the house please follow the long driveway to the barn/open field. If you are camping out Friday I will be on site from 2pm to 5:30pm to help runners locate suitable camping locations along the course. After 5:30pm I will be heading home to get some rest so you can get help from fellow runners. From there participants can find ample day use parking in an adjacent field about 50 meters from the start line and overnight campers will be directed to the adjacent field behind the start/finish line barn where runners will pass by with each 2.4 mile loop.

Aid Stations

We will have minimal aid station supplies. I will bring out my water/tailwind and leftover items from the previous event. We gladly accept aid station donations of food items that you like to see at races. Our staff is very busy with course marking, timing, packet pickup, and communication with runners, that it does make it hard to prepare some amazing tasty treats in-between laps so feel free to contribute a little slice of heaven if you can! Thank you

You may bring a portable firepit or gas powered fire if you would like. We will also have a bonfire location along with a portable fire pit inside the barn so if you can make a donation with a stack of wood that would be great!

In an effort to be good stewards to mother nature we will not have any of the following items at ANY of our events. This is in an effort to reduce the carbon footprint being placed by endurance events throughout the world. Please have a cup or hydration bottle if you will need to consume water/nutrition during the event. Please bring your own fork/spoon for any post race meals. Please bring your own bags for items collected at the race.

Camping is offered for both Friday night and Saturday night for $25. This will help us cover additional portable toilets as this preserve has no power or water so please bring the necessary supplies for your stay.
