The 16th Annual Running of this Iconic Event Saturday February 19th, 2022 to Sunday February 20th, 2022 ( a FULL Moon Weekend )
Important… If you’ve been on this site recently, this is newly updated info, Please Read the Changes Detailed Below!
Due to ongoing construction on the levee on the south and west side of the lake, we have decided to use a modified course this year. The construction would put runners on sections of US 27 and again on US 78 for to many miles. The Race Directors feel this is too great a risk, given the high speed traffic travels at on these roads and the bad condition of the shoulders of the road to run on. So until we can get back up on the levee for a full loop of the lake, the new start will be in Port Mayaca on the NORTH side of the bridge! This will be the formal start and finish line for all the races!
Next we are pleased to announce that we are adding chip timing to the race and Mike Melton of MCM Timing and Results LLC will be doing the timing of all events! We are adding two additional distances to the race, a 100km and a 50km individual distance have be added! All 6 events will run an out and back course from Port Mayaca’s North side, the course routes for all 6 events is posted below. The goal is to run on as much of the levee as possible, staying off the roads, however that’s impossible, as one or two sections run across private land that we can’t access, as well as several bridges that you'll need to cross to get you from one side of a canal to the other! The course routes for each event is posted below.
Race start times to be announced soon, the 1st race will most likely start at 7:00am just after sunrise.
There will be a packet pick-up the night before the event at the start, from 4 to 8pm, you’ll also be able to pick up your packet race morning before the race, more details will be emailed to registered runners before the race!
The event race line up includes a 118 Individual run, a 118 Team Relay( 2-6 people), a 100km Individual run, a 50 Mile Individual run, a 50 Mile Team relay ( 2-3 people) and a 50km Individual run.
Port Mayaca is 20ish miles from Okeechobee and about the same from Clewiston. Indiantown is 10 miles away but only has one hotel! You can drive from WPB to Port Mayaca most mornings in 60-90 minutes! There are several camp sites in the area, more on that later! A list of Hotels in Okeechobee & Clewiston is posted below.
Individual runners MUST have a crew, there are no aid stations on the course, drop bags aren't an option, no unsupported uncrewed individual runners! This applies to all events, relay runners can be crew when not running ( so a team of two or more can alternate between being the runner or the crew person when not running. )
Pacers: Runners can have pacers starting at the following distances/locations; 118 - after 31 miles, or when you get back to the north side of Port Mayaca, a pacer can join you! 100km - after 14 miles, or at Henry Creek your 2nd Crew Access Point, a pacer can join you! 50 miles - after 14 miles, or at Henry Creek your 2nd CAP, a pacer can join you! 50 km - after 11 miles, or after Canal Point going south ( 3rd CAP ), a pacer can join you! Pacers are not allowed to mule for their runner
To add a team member have them register and select the " Join a Team" option, select your team and finish the registration process and pay the fee at the end! If you need to change a team member you can transfer a registration to another person and they are responsible for the money aspect! Email: [email protected] to transfer! You must be registered by January 23rd 2022 to be guaranteed your shirt size and swag! After that we will try to guess your shirt size, but we're not really good at guessing.
Additional shirts ( for your crew ) may be ordered in the store, or they can order one when they register, and it will be in your swag bag at packet pick-up!
New this year: CREW & PACERS must register; there is no fee to register as a crew person or pacer. Every CREW member on your team needs to register. Parents can register for their kids. This helps us have contact info for crews in case something changes race day and we need to disseminate information out to crews and runners. Also see the Crew Notes section below.
Location: North side of the Port Mayaca Bridge 26.986519, -80.617617 ( to see a map of the location, highlight the coordinates, right click and select "Search" ) You access this area from the side road just north of the base of the North side of the bridge.
Plan Ahead and Save the Date: Race weekend 2023 will be on February 11 & 12th

After you register if you find you are unable to attend for whatever reason, you can defer a registration 1 time to the next year’s race. Send an email to [email protected] and request a deferral. You have until Tuesday February 15th to request a deferral, no deferrals after February 15th.
The run course for each event is posted in the PDF chart below! The two 118 events and the 50km will start out and run south to Pahokee, then back to the start area, where the 50km finishes and the two 118 events continue north to their turn around point! The 100km & the two 50 mile events start out north and run to their respective turn-a-round points and then head back to the finish line! This will hopefully keep the amount of cars going to the 1st few CAP's to a minimum, as some of the CAP's won't accommodate a large amount of cars.
Note to Crews: Most of the CAP's will require you to walk up to the dike a distance of between a few hundred feet and a quarter mile, and then back down to your car! A small rolling cooler can be used to bring your runners things along with you so you don't have to carry them and the small cooler than can be easily lifted back into the vehicle. Use a bigger cooler that stays in the car to reload the small cooler every time! Read the rest of the "Notes for Crew" below.
The race has a NO Refund Policy in Place, Deferrals are only to the next years event. After you register if you find you are unable to attend for whatever reason, you can defer a registration 1 time to the next year’s race. Email us for a deferral.
