Description

Come join us for the 20th Annual Currahee Challenge 5K and 10K.  The start/finish will be at the Currahee Memorial, located at the base of Currahee Mountain just outside Toccoa, GA. The courses are out and back on some paved surfaces but mostly on the dirt road that runs up the side of Currahee Mountain.

Active.com registration ends on September 29 at 6:00pm.  Race day registration is available.

Event details and schedule

Race Day Registration and Packet Pickup: Begins at 7AM.

5K: Starts at 8AM

10K:  Starts at 9AM 

Awards:

Medals presented to overall male/female, masters male/female and top three in age groups 10 & under through 70 & over in 10-year age groups.  Awards Ceremony will be at the Memorial immediately following the 5K and no later than 10:15AM for the 10K.

Shirts and Goodies:

Shirts are guaranteed to those who register by 9/15/21.  Registrations after that date and on race day are not guaranteed a shirt or size.  There will be plenty of refreshments.  For after race activities go to visittoccoa.com.

Series Affiliation:

The race is part of the 2021 Black Bag Race Series.

About the course:

The course is one of the toughest in Georgia.  It is run from the base of Currahee Mountain on the Colonel Robert Sink Trail, the training site of the 501st, 506th, 511th and 517th Parachute Infantry Regiments seen in Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan & The Dirty Dozen.

Other Info: In case of rain, the races will go on.  Delay of the start may happen in case of severe weather in the area at race time.  If severe weather continues, then the race director or local authorities may make the call to cancel the race at that time.  Sorry, no refunds.

Directions: From ATL take I-85 to I-985 North. Toccoa/Lavonia Exit (GA17S/US123N/GA165N). After exiting, turn right at the first traffic light, onto Tommy Irvin Rd. Tommy Irvin Rd will dead end into Dicks Hill Pkwy.  Take a left onto Dicks Hill Pkwy. Travel approximately 4 miles to Ayersville Rd.
