Upstate Race Series will be timing the race and any donations and profits from hosting the 5k race will benefit The Foundation for St. Luke’s Hospital 3D Mammography project. Inspired by one of the owners, Karen Binns, who overcame breast cancer is more than excited to host this annual event right between the vines of her family owned and operated vineyard!
Parker-Binns Vineyard will be our gracious host for this annual event. Polk County, North Carolina had a rich history of growing and selling grapes in the late 1800’s. Now with the area having over 20 vineyards and 3 wineries, we knew this was the place to begin. And begin we did…clearing the trees and thickets, preparing the soil and planting over 4000 grape vines. Although we were familiar with this, we made an outstanding discovery…we’re 31 years older (ouch!) and yet another adventure begins!!! After only a couple of years of retirement, we were bored and needed inspiration. With our background in the food and beverage industry, we decided that we wanted to be part of the emerging East Coast wine industry. We searched up and down the region and finally found what we felt was the perfect parcel, 40 acres in the Tryon Foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are available through the vineyard. Learn more about the Vineyard HERE

Staging Area & Camping & Personal Aid Station Setup
Athletes who are not camping are permitted to have a drop bag or personal tent near the aid station in the open field adjacent to the start/finish line loop. Please be mindful to place your personal belongings off the course as to not impede the runners, the flow of traffic, or other race participants. The start and finish line loop will serve as the official drop bag area designation. When you are finished with your race please "pack in and pack out" making the host facility look better than you found it. Camping is open for participants and crew members/spectators. During registration you will have an option to select a primitive camping spot. No water, no power, but plenty of space to spread out along the course and right next to the vineyard! You will be able to set up a 10 x 10 personal aid station along the course near the start finish line and the parking lot throughout the event.
Aid Station
We will have a basic aid station at the start/finish line of the race that includes water, tailwind, soda, cookies, crackers, and other sugary fixes! We gladly accept aid station donations of food items that you like to see at races. Our staff is very busy with course marking, timing, packet pickup, and communication with runners, that it does make it hard to prepare some amazing tasty treats in-between laps so feel free to contribute a little slice of heaven if you can! Thank you
Cup-less Event: Please provide your own hydration vessel for use at our aid stations
