Outrunning Hunger 5k supports the efforts of The Window in Goshen. The Window has many services that meet the basic needs of people in the Goshen community. The Window serves a hot lunch daily, food pantry, coffee and doughnuts for breakfast, sandwiches to take home for dinner, clothing closet, showers and laundry services.
This race begins and ends in Shanklin Park; running/walking along the Millrace, and looping through Shoup-Parsons Woods before coming back to Shanklin via the Millrace. The majority of the route is on a crushed gravel path that is relatively flat. The path is lined with trees on one side and a canal on the other. You will see the Goshen Dam and run through wooded areas as you make your turn.
You are free to run or walk this race. We are allowing jogging strollers, but ask that those with strollers start in the back since the path is so narrow.
Shirts are only guaranteed to runners registering 8.28.2020 or before.
Prizes will be given to the top 3 finishers, male and female AND to the best selfie with the hash tag #OutrunningHunger5k posted on social media.
The race will be timed by Watts My Time. THE RACE WILL BE AN OPEN START DUE TO COVID.
We take your health and safety seriously. Here are some of the things we are doing to keep you safe:
- Start line social distancing/open start. We will encourage social distancing and mask wearing at the start line. Runners do not have to wear masks during the race.
- All race volunteers that have close interaction with runners, food, or drink will be wearing masks. Those handling food and drink will wear gloves.
- You can run the race virtually. Sign up for the race online. Come to The Window to pick up race packets on Thursday or Friday before the race. Run at a location you feel safe at. Please post pictures!
