Blackburn Chasing the Cure was founded in honor of Megan Blackburn’s mom, who is a breast cancer survivor and in memory of Megan’s aunt. The foundation was also created in memory of Corey Hoehn, who lost his life at the young age of 15 to Ewing’s sarcoma. The Blackburn Chasing the Cure Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit that strives to ease the burdens of families during difficult times, so they can focus solely on their loved ones who are battling breast cancer or childhood cancer.

Honda Marysville has orchestrated the successful Run4Kids which benefits the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (PBTF) for more than 14 years. This run has historically brought together 550+ individuals of all ages to honor “Stars” who lost their battle to this deadliest form of childhood cancer and Stars who are undergoing treatment or living with the side effects of a brain tumor. Annually, Honda Marysville supports the PBTF through the Ride For Kids and this very own 5K.

Race Week: September 27 – October 3

Why this week? September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Together, while apart, we are keeping awareness alive for these causes that will affect more than 300,000 individuals in 2020 while honoring those close to us who have been in this fight.

We honor the strength of patients and caregivers. We hope that you will too.

HERE IS HOW IT WORKS:

Step 1: Choose the TEAM you wish to honor and register to run/walk your own a 5K on a course of your choosing! Register no later than August 30th to guarantee that your shirt is received by race week.

Step 2: You’ve got mail! Excitedly, open your race envelope with your swag 😊

Step 3: Wearing your swag for your “Star” Team go out and run or walk your 5K. You can be creative and break your walk/run up into several days (if you’re a miler and not a 5k) or create a fun challenge for your team!

Step 4: Post pictures of your run to Facebook or Instagram by mentioning or using #blackburnchasingthecure #hondamarysvillerun4kids #IMPACT60 #yougivewegive. This is a very important step! We want to see your faces and show our Stars since we can’t be together. Share, Share, Share!

Step 5: Submit your time to be added to the race results board. Details will be provided both on the race page under the results header and emailed prior to race week!
