NRC Youth Program Fall Cross Country Season is for 9-13 year old’s who love to run. The season focus is learning how to run trails safely. We teach techniques for up and down hill running, trail courtesy, and teamwork. Many who enter our program go on to run on their middle school and high school teams. Others take this knowledge and run more efficiently on their selected team sports. One way or the other, running is the basis of EVERY sport. Field event instruction includes javelin, shot put, long jump, and discus.
The Fall Cross Country Season meets at various parks in western Suffolk County including Sunken Meadow, Blydenburgh, Edgewood Oaks Preserve and Meadowlark Park. We organize participants into 3 or more groups, based upon ability, with each group lead by one or two coaches. It's fun for everyone! Parents are encouraged to do their own runs at these scenic locations.
