Official WebsiteDue to the COVID19 Pandemic, this summer's Major Taylor Trail Keepers Chicago annual event will be virtual.
Since 2020 marks the 121st anniversary of Marshall Walter "Major" Taylor winning the 1899 world championships in Montreal, Canada, we are asking each cyclist to ride at least 21 miles and each runner to run/walk at least 2.1 miles in honor of Major Taylor. Taylor won the one-mile sprint, to become the first African American to win a world championship in cycling and was our nation's first African American sports hero.
We have created a specially designed Major Taylor face covering (neck gaiters) in honor of this event. Once you register, we will immediately mail you our specially designed Major Taylor neck gaiter. We are asking that once you complete your miles, that you take a photo, with your Major Taylor neck gaiter on and post it up on our Major Taylor Trail Keepers Chicago Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Major-Taylor-Trail-Keepers-Chicago-112708716882974/) or on our MTC3 Strava club page (https://www.strava.com/clubs/majortaylorchicago)
