Details: We're back to our original time frame for the Annual Gold Star Run for Honor on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend. Join us for an early run or walk in memory of Scott Procopio who was killed in action 15 years ago in Ramadi Iraq. Options to include a 5K, 10K, 1 mile Walk and a Kids Fun Run.
100% of proceeds to be allocated to the Scott Procopio Scholarship Fund.
In 2019 & 2021, the event raised more than $30K to be allocated to High School seniors furthering their education.
Location: Saugus Town Hall, Saugus MA
Packet Pickup/Race Day Reg: Opens at 6:45AM at Saugus Center in front of the Town Hall. Packet pickup is on race day only, unless otherwise noted.
Course: Choose from a 5K, 10K or 1 Mile Walk.
The course is a mix of flat and rollers with one good size climb. All distances start at the same time and all fuel stops will have water and electrolytes.
Strollers and dogs are welcome.
Kids Fun Run Course: This 1/4 mile Kids Fun Run is targeted for those 10 and under starting at 7:45am. Pre-registered kids will be guaranteed a t-shirt. The run will start right at the closed off rotary and will finish under the High5EM finish archway on Taylor St. If your child is 10 & under and wishes to participate in the 5K or 10K and the Kids Fun Run please sign he/she in the individual category so he/she will receive an official race time.
1 Mile Walk: This walk has been added to those looking to participate in the event and receive all the race accolades without having to run.
Team/Club Category: This is an easy and fun way to recruit your family and friends. Teams must consist of at least 3+ people. Prizes will be awarded for the largest & fastest team.
Corporate Challenge: This challenge, aims to add more of a friendly competition between these corporations and encourage more participation on race day. The race's Corporate Challenge, is expected to 15 supporting corporations competing for the Gold Star Corporate Challenge Cup - and bragging rights. The challenge is divided into three divisions: women only, men only, and co-ed.
The corporate challenge pits teams of at least three employees from valid corporations and partnerships throughout New England. The teams will be scored using net times and will be adjusted by age and gender. The top three runners count toward the overall score, and there is no limit to the number of runners who can be entered on a team.
Awards are presented to the top 3 individuals scoring for the top team in each classification.
Swag: Participants will receive custom designed race bibs and finisher medals. Shirts will be guaranteed to those pre-registered by 4/29.

1st, 2nd and 3rd M/F in each age group: Under 14, 15-19 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

Fastest Team in each division - Co-Ed, Male and Female (Cumulative time will be taken for the top 3 finishers on each team)

Festivities: There will be a variety of community sponsors and vendors setup in front of the Saugus Town Hall. Essex Landing will be on site providing hot dogs for all participants and other food/drink will be available.
More about Scott: Scott was on his second deployment as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, having previously served in Fallujah in 2005. He was killed in action as a result of a roadside bomb on the morning of April 2, 2006 in Ramadi, Iraq.
Beneficiary: 100% of the event proceeds will be allocated to CPL Scott J. Procopio Memorial Scholarship program to provide high school seniors with academic scholarships.

Race Refunds & Event Cancellations: We understand life happens and things may come up. We’ve implemented a defer and transfer policy for FREE up to a certain date for all High5EM events. Transfers or deferments made after said date will incur a small fee for administration purposes. In the case of event cancellation due to public safety, inclement weather or some other unforeseen power at be, the entire event will become virtual.
