Welcome to the 8th Annual Paris Mountain Race Series. Paris Mountain is the hidden gem in the Upstate that lies in between the beautiful mountains of the foothills! This trail system extends nearly 16 miles of wide and rugged running dream! At the base of the mountain you will loop around Lake Placid before heading north up the mountain on Mountain Creek trail into Sulphur Springs! This is where the grit of the trail begins and your heart rate rises! Going around the mountain to North Lake and down Kanuga before hitting the toughest portion of Brissy Ridge. This trail will make your legs burn but your adventurous trail junkie side yearning for more! Come see this well kept secret of the Upstate for yourself!

Packet Pickup


Please arrive no later than 5:30am at Mountain Creek Baptist Church (255 W Mountain Creek Church Rd, Greenville, SC 29609) to catch the shuttle that will take you to the park one mile down the road. Inside the park at shelter #3 we will have bathrooms, packet pickup and the start/finish line for the event. Apparel will be for sale on race day. Packet Pickup is located at Shelter #3 where the start line,  finish line, and drop bag location is for the half way point of the two lap race. 

 



Bib # & Timing Chip


Please locate the Bib # Sheet at packet pickup. We will assign bibs prior to the race and you can find them under the participant tab HERE. It will be organized by distance and in alphabetical order. Find your name that corresponds with your assigned bib # and give that number to one of our volunteers at packet pickup. Please make sure that your bib is on the front of your body and is visible when you cross the finish line. Please make sure to return your timing chip  to the correct storage bin located at the finish line prior to getting your finish medal. Participants who lose or neglect to return their timing chip will be asked to mail it in or pay $25 to have the reusable chip replaced.

 


Race Swag



All race participants will receive an Upstate Ultra Sticker and a unique wooden finisher award. Not everyone likes shirts so we have provided an option to purchase an Upstate Ultra Tri-Blend Shirt, Performance Socks, Trucker Hat, or Trail Buff. 

 


Race Awards


Top 3 Male and Female will receive a custom hand made award by our partner of Next Up Opportunity! Each finisher will receive a finisher medal that will be branded with the race logo and come with a custom race patch on the backside! Address/Parking State Park


NEW FOR 2021. Runners must park at Mountain Creek Baptist Church.255 W Mountain Creek Church Rd, Greenville, SC 29609 Paris Mountain is not allowing our race to park inside the facility due to the size of the event. We are arranging a shuttle service from a local church for the event. Sorry for the inconvenience and added cost during your registration. The shuttle fee is $10 per runner that will go directly to the church that is hosting us and out shuttle drivers. ALL Runners must utilize the shuttle to gain access to the park prior to opening but once the park opens if you have spectators or family that would like to come watch or pick you up after the race is over that is permitted. The shuttles will be leaving every 5 minutes from 6:00am to 7:00am to drive runners the mile down the road to shelter # 3. The last shuttle will leave at 7:00am and not return. At the duration of the event our shuttles will take runners back to Mountain Creek Baptist Church or you can arrange to have your spectator/family pick you up once the park opens for normal business hours. 

 


Paris Mountain Course Description



The 50k will consist of two 15.5 mile loops starting and finishing at Shelter #3. The total distance covers 8,500 feet of elevation change, goes around 3 different lakes, ascends 3 gentle climbs. You may see deer, squirrels, birds, snakes, and a variety of other wildlife. The course offers single track dirt, rugged and wide switchbacks, along with steep climbs. There are two waterfalls and 3 beautiful lakes. The course does have a 1 mile section of road on an out and back to the 2nd aid station. The course will have a series of directional arrows (both yellow and green) that will be placed  at various intersections. Please follow all directional arrows to stay on course. In the event that you make a wrong turn please backtrack to your original spot of confusion. Cutting the course (even if unintentionally will lead to a disqualification) 

 



Course Cutoff


The 50k race has a 10 hour cutoff starting at 7:30am and ending at 5:30pm. There is a 4 Hour Cutoff of the first loop. 

 


Aid Stations



There are three aid stations on course during the 15 mile loop. These locations are Mile 4.5 (Brissy Ridge and Sulfur Springs Parking Lot) Mile 11 (Camp Buckhorn Gate) - Mile 15.5. The Aid station will include such items: salt, crackers, cookies, pickles, oranges, water , tailwind, and soda. This is a CUPLESS event as runners are required to have their own hydration carrying bottles or packs. Our aid station volunteers are not there to service your every need so be self reliant. 

 


Eco-Standard



In an effort to be good stewards to mother nature we will not have any of the following items at ANY of our events. This is in an effort to reduce the carbon footprint being placed by endurance events throughout the world. Please have a cup or hydration bottle if you will need to consume water/nutrition during the event. Please bring your own fork/spoon for any post race meals. Please bring your own bags for items collected at the race. Please make use of old safety pins or our new Bib Boards that will be available for the timing chip only.

Camping: Reservations



There are 39 sites are paved, 13 of which offer tent pads. Each site has individual water and electrical hookups. Some sites accommodate RVs up to 40 feet, others up to 35 feet. The campground is convenient to restroom facilities with hot showers. Camping reservations must be made for a minimum of two nights. Standard Sites with Electricity & Water
