The Neuf Memorial 9K and 2 Mile Run

The Neuf Memorial Run is back in-person for 2022 for one final run*

Join us for the FIFTH & FINAL Neuf 9K and 2 Mile Memorial Run at 10 AM on Saturday, January 8, 2022 outside of Mojos Coffee Shop on the campus of Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas.  The 9K course runs through North Newton into Newton and then heads off road along the Sand Creek trail while the 2 mile course stays on pavement in North Newton and is conducive for runners of all abilities.

All registered runners receive a timing bib from TimerGuys, a commemorative fifth annual stainless steel Run the Neuf pint glass (see photo), and post-race festivities which include coffee, hot chocolate, and continental breakfast items.  Additional pint glasses are available at $9/pint, but supplies are limited!

Registration opens on November 9, 2021.  The Neuf early bird entry fee until December 9, 2021 is $45 for the 9K and $35 for the 2 mile.  The regular entry fee is $50/$40 until January 6, 2022. Online registration closes January 6, 2022 at 11:59 PM, but in-person registration is available on January 7 and 8 at packet pickup for $50/$40.  Race day registration and packet pick up closes 15 minutes before race and may not include the commemorative SWAG.  The entry fee does not include sales tax and processing fees.

Unlike previous years, the pre and post race staging will take place in Memorial Hall on the campus of Bethel College.  This change will allow for greater social distancing for everyone participating.

* We hope and expect to run the race in-person this year, but changing COVID conditions may force the race to become a virtual run.

The Neuf 90K Challenge

The Neuf 90K Challenge is back to encourage increased physical activity during the holiday season.  The Challenge is to run/walk 90K (or more) between December 9, 2021 and race day on January 8, 2021.  90K is 55.8 miles -- about 1.8 miles for each day of the challenge.  You can do it!

Simply run or walk and then record your distance on RunSignUp which will track your progress and allow you to see the progress of the other challenge participants as well.   Tag your photos with#90kneufchallenge as you make your way through the challenge.

The Neuf 90K Challenge includes entry into the 9K or 2 mile race or a virtual run for those who want to participate virtually along with all the accompanying SWAG (see above).  In addition, 90K Challenge participants receive an Ogio running jacket (pictured below).  Registration opens on November 9, 2021 with an entry fee of $90 which increases to $100 at the start of the challenge on December 9, 2021.  The entry fee does not include sales tax and processing fees.

 

Race and Challenge Awards

For the 9K and 2 mile run, the top 3 male and female finishers receive awards.

In addition to the speed awards, awards will be given for creative ways to “spread the love.” We will award 9 Neuf Memorial Run prizes based on the in-person race or photos submitted to Facebook by race day:

3. Best kilt


4. Best display of Neuf branding


5. Bravest running outfit


6. Best "spread the love" message


7. Best family/group themed costume


8. Most creative place to run


9. Most creative time to run

Like last year, we promise to be very biased in our judging, and winners will receive cool prizes and lots of accolades on social media!

The Neuf has been developed by friends and family of Russ Neufeld to honor his memory.  All proceeds beyond race and challenge expenses benefit the Russ Neufeld Memorial Scholarship at Hesston College and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

There are two ways to submit virtual progress for the 90K Challenge
Virtual result submissions for the Challenge open at 12:01 AM on December 9, 2021.
Each activity must be logged in kilometers (since this is a 90K Challenge).
To convert miles into kilometers, multiply miles by 1.609.  1 mile = 1.609 KM.
Multiple activities can be submitted for this Challenge, and progress is tracked on RunSignUp.

Option #1: Submit virtual progress for the 90K Challenge from your signup profile
On the RunSignUp page, sign in using your user name and profile.
In the upper right hand corner, hover over the silhouette and then click on Profile.
Locate Run the Neuf under Upcoming Events.
Click on Submit Virtual Results on the right side of the event.
Log each activity with distance (in kilometers) and time (timing is optional).

Option #2: Submit virtual progress from the 90K Challenge from the Run the Neuf RunSignUp page
Select the Results tab on the right side of this page. 
Click on Submit Virtual Results.
Complete Participant Look Up by first and last name or email address and date of birth.
Click Log Activity and log each activity with distance (in kilometers) and time (timing is optional).
