We have chosen to cancel the 20th Anniversary "This Race is for the Birds!" so we can help prevent the spread of Covid-19 and keep volunteers and participants safe. We are so grateful to all who have registered, our sponsors and the volunteers.  

We know that many of you have trained long and hard for this cross-country course. In hopes of keeping your momentum going, we have created an interactive, virtual race in which all registrants can participate:  

• Follow our Virtual Race Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/193808588582445/
• Go on a run, jog, walk or hike and take a picture of yourself.
• Add your photo to the Virtual Race Facebook Group (add hashtags #raceforthebirds #flattenthecurve)
• Photos can be added at any time from now until midnight on Saturday, March 28.
• Photos posted on to the Virtual Race Facebook Group will be entered in a drawing to win one of the race awards.

At a later date, once it's safe to be out and about, we'll have locations where you can pick up your t-shirt and, if you are one of the lucky winners, your award. 

This is an important fundraiser for Potomac Valley Audubon Society and we appreciate your interest in participating. We hope you are willing to make your race fee a valuable donation that will support PVAS's programs and preserves and we'd be happy to send you a donation receipt upon request. This Race Is For The Birds is a running/walking event sponsored by the Potomac Valley Audubon Society. We offer 2 professionally timed races; a 10K and a 5K, however we encourage both runners and walkers alike! Sign up for these events and enjoy the adventure of running or walking on non-technical cross country trails that wind through fields and woods of Broomgrass Farm and along beautiful Back Creek. In addition, there is a free Kids Fun Run for children 10 and under. All proceeds support the Potomac Valley Audubon Society's programs and preserves.
