WHO WE ARE:
The St. Louis Cure Sarcoma 6K fundraiser was created by a group of individuals directly affected by Sarcoma. We are a group of Sarcoma warriors, survivors, loved ones of those lost, and relatives of those still fighting. Regardless of our different journeys with this disease, we all have one thing in common: We have all been affected by the lack of Sarcoma research and limited treatment options for Sarcoma patients. We created this group with the assistance of our oncologist, Brian Van Tine, M.D., Ph.D., to fund research through our Annual STL Cure Sarcoma 6K Run/Walk. We strongly believe in Dr. Van Tine’s research and have made it a priority to reserve half of the proceeds of this event to benefit his research lab at Washington University in St. Louis. Our goal is to generate funding for research both nationwide through The Sarcoma Foundation of America, and right here in St. Louis. We hope to create a patient-oriented event that celebrates the life of survivors/warriors, honors the fight of loved ones lost, and builds a community for those affected by sarcoma.
What You Need to Know:
This year we will be having a hybrid event. This means you can either attend the live event in person if you are comfortable with attending or you can support the cause by doing a virtual run/walk with close family and friends.
Your safety is our number one priority. We have been working hard to put every safety precaution in place to insure we host a safe event. We are working close with the Saint Louis County Health Department and Big River Running Company to put measures in place that allow for the most social distancing. These include smaller designated corrals, mask mandates (except while running/walking), controlled starts (every 2 minutes), and a large open finishing post race area.
If you have attended one of our events in the years past, you know the STL Cure Sarcoma 6K was not just a race. We created an event where people could gather after the race and meet others affected by Sarcoma. This lets people know they were not alone in their fight. We provided a free lunch from Pappy’s Smokehouse, basket raffle, car smash, bounce houses, and other activities. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, the events after the race will have to wait until next year.

PACKET PICK UP:
VERY IMPORTANT:
We encourage all to attend the packet pickup listed below or have a designated team person attend the event to pick up your t-shirt(s) and packet (s). On approximately Sept 26th, we will send out an email requesting you to submit a list of your bulk pickups so we can have them all together on the day of the pickups.
You will be able to pick up your packet the morning of the event between the times of 8am to 9:15am (15 min prior to the start of the event).
We will gladly mail you your packet if you cannot attend the packet pick and you signed up for the virtual event. Please keep in mind mailing the packets is approximately $5 per packet. As you can imagine, this can really cut into the funding we provide to our supporting institutions.
The packet pickups will be contact free, as we will choose a location that allows us to do drive-thru pickup. When you arrive, one of our awesome volunteers/committee members will ask you for your name, your packet will be put together and place either in your backseat or trunk. This allows us to have zero contact with the person picking up the packets as we know many of you will be returning to a household with a warrior/survivor of sarcoma and/or where immune systems are compromised.
