Volunteer info: Come enjoy three hours of open sports in the gym at VB Friends School on a FRIDAY Night. Volunteers must be able/willing to play, assist, and socialize with all participants with ASD. Volunteers will be required to engage participants in the sporting activities and assist staff with duties needed to keep campers safe and distanced. Volunteers must be 13 or older. You are invited to come play basketball, tag, dodgeball, compete in scooter relays, and more! This program is designed for participants of all ages and will be staffed on a 1:5 ratio. Volunteers are encouraged to bring a snack and/or a bagged dinner and a water bottle. A tentative schedule is as follows: 6-6:45PM Dinner/Snack 6:45-8:15PM Sport Rotations with individual equipment 8:15-9:00PM Free Play (with individual equipment) and/or Movie Where: Friends School- Gym 1537 Laskin Road Virginia Beach, VA 23452 When: FRIDAY December 10, 2021 from 6:00 PM -9:00 PM Why: To allow a safe place for children of all ages with ASD a place to stay and participate in sporting activity while parents/ caregivers have a couple hours to themselves. COVID UPDATES: We, at FACT, are monitoring the ongoing situation with regards to COVID-19. We have implemented health screenings, temperature checks, invested in sanitizing equipment, limited group sizes, required staff to wear masks (and encouraging campers to wear masks), and modified instruction to facilitate proper social distancing. We appreciate your ability to remain adaptive and flexible with us during this uncertain time.
