Run wild for Woodcock!

90% trails, 100% outdoor fun. 

Woodcock Nature Center welcomes runners, hikers and walkers of all ages at its annual Where the Wild Things Run 5K and Kids Fun Run. You can even become a fundraiser and promote your run to friends and family to increase your impact.

For several decades, this event has highlighted Woodcock’s nearly 5 miles of publicly accessible trails and raised money for the center’s educational programs.

All proceeds support the nature center!

The popular 5K is 90% trail with a mix of groomed trails, rugged trails and narrow bridges/boardwalks. The terrain of the 5k highlights the diversity and beauty of the Woodcock property. A shorter 1K Kids Fun Run geared towards ages 6 and up is appropriate for walkers and runners of all ages.

Tentative Order of Events:

Friday, October 14 from 4-6pm - Packet Pick-up at Woodcock (56 Deer Run Road, Wilton CT)

Sunday, October 16:

8:30 am - Registration opens & packet pickup

9:00 am - Kids Registration Closes

9:15 am - Kids Fun Run warm-up!

9:30 am - Kids Fun Run kick-off (15-20 min race) & Registration closes for 5K

10:00 am - 5K Kick-off (kids invited to cheer on the runners)

10:05 am - Kids crafts, activities and music in and around the pavilion (playground will be open too!)

10:15 am - Woodcock Annual Turtle Race! Gather around to see which of the Woodcock turtles will win this year! Plus other activities

11:30 am (aprox. ) - Lunch order pickup. 5K prizes plus family fun in and around our pavilion continues through the completion of the 5K.

11 am - 1 pm - POST RACE PARTY continues!

Pre-Order Your Lunch!

Registrants can also choose from a variety of pre-ordered lunch options. Make your selections at registration and we'll have lunch waiting for you! Limited lunches will also be available on race day but are not guaranteed.

5K Prizes:

Top runners will receive a gift card to Outdoors Sports Center in Wilton and Ridgefield Running Company in Ridgefield.

Only participants registered by October 1 are guaranteed a race t-shirt. Additional t-shirts and gear available for purchase on race day.
