Description

Welcome to the official page for the 2ND Daniel Anderl Love is Light 5k Run/Walk 2022!

On Saturday, July 16th, The 2nd/Last Daniel Anderl “Love is Light” 5K, will be held at the North Brunswick Community Park, commemorating the second anniversary of Daniel's death. The many friends of Danny Anderl from the Saint Augustine's School and North Brunswick communities, organized this event to continue the memory of this incredible young man.

The purpose of the “Love is Light” 5K Run/Walk is three-fold, it is intended to:

  • Honor Daniel’s legacy, who selflessly sacrificed his own life to protect his mother and father

  • Advocate to create national legislation that protects members of the judiciary, as evidenced by the signing of New Jersey Bill A1649, the Daniel Anderl Judicial Security and Privacy Act of 2020 (“Daniel's Law”) that protects the privacy and security of members of the judiciary

  • Raise funds for academic student scholarships.

All net proceeds from this event will fund the creation of an endowed academic scholarship in Daniel’s memory at his grammar school alma mater Saint Augustine of Canterbury School in Kendall Park, N.J. The Daniel Anderl Class of 2014 Scholarship Fund has a goal of $100,000 which will provide for an annual academic award in Danny’s name in perpetuity.
Saint Joe’s is a 501(c)3 charitable organization. All donations are tax-deductible as permissible by law.
Danny was a smart, funny, compassionate, competitive, caring and loyal person. He was a popular student-athlete at Saint A's, and graduated in 2014 with honors.

Please join the Saint Augustine's community and the many friends of Danny on July 16th, to celebrate his life, and to provide your support of this very worthy tribute to his name.

If you cannot make this event in person, please join us virtually, or support us with a short walk in your community, in memory of Danny and honoring the fact that “Love is Light”.

* "Love is Light" was based on Esther Salas’ interview on Good Morning America October 2020. Nearly three months after her 20-year-old son, Daniel, was killed and her husband wounded in a heinous assault, federal judge Esther Salas said she has relied on her faith to move forward and even forgive his killer.  In the interview she said,
"Hate is heavy. Love is light!".
