April 18, 2021 - Live Run        

Come on out and participate in the 3rd annual First Step Foundation 5K Run/Walk on April 18 at 8:00am at Al Lopez Park! There will be food, music,and goodie bags for runners. Proceeds from the race will go towards helping start and further the recovery of people struggling with substance abuse.

Enjoy this beautiful and accurately measured 5K course as it winds its way through lush, wooded Al Lopez Park. This race offers a flat and fast run, sure to appeal to all levels of runners.

The 5K starts promptly at 8:00am and will be chip timed by TRC Race Management.

ENTRY FEES:

Sept. 10, 2020 - April 5, 2021 : $30.00

April 6th - April 17th: $35.00

5K day of race: $40.00

Registration includes: T-shirt for each runner* and great food and drink at our Post-Race Party. The first 300 registered for the 5K race will receive a Finisher Medal. Overall Awards: Top Male & Top Female 5K Finishers as well as top three males and females in each age group. (*shirts are only guaranteed for those registered and paid by 4/7/21)

Registration is also be available at The Running Center 144277 N Dale Mabry Hwy in Carrollwood.

All proceeds to benefit the First Step Foundation.

What the First Step Foundation does:

Currently, 24 million people in the United States suffer from substance abuse disorder, one and a half as many times as all cancers combined and nearly the same amount as all people diagnosed with diabetes. Just like any other chronic disease, the effect that substance abuse and addiction has on family members exponentially magnifies the issue, not only stressing relationships but also often exhausting financial resources.

The First Step Foundation serves the community by bridging that financial gap that stands frequently between addicts and effective treatment. More specifically, provides funds to assist with continued recovery and transition after treatment.

ABOUT THE 2020 VIRTUAL RUN

An option for those who signed up for this year's postponed event is the virtual run between October 24 - November 8, 2020.

Participants receive commemorative t-shirt and finisher medal.
