On April 24, 1997, 12 year old Esko student Kristin Burkholder was taken from this earth as a result of injuries suffered from a pedestrian-car accident while running for track practice along Canosia Road in Esko. A symbolic memorial scholarship exists in her name.
To raise money for this fund, promote walking safety for our children, and to increase the awareness for organ donation, the Esko Educational Foundation organizes this annual 5K run/ walk. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, August 10th. The event is for people of all ages and abilities. Preregistration is encouraged.
Race packets may be picked up at the Esko High School football field the day of the race starting at 7:45 a.m. The race starts at 9:00 a.m. A free race for kids will occur on the track at 8:45 a.m.
Awards and refreshments will be provided immediately after the race. Trophies will be given in the following categories: overall top male and female runners, top 2 runners in each division: 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and older.
The registration deadline is Wednesday, July 31st. Come out and support this great event!
