Lansing  for César E. Chávez (LCEC) will kick off its Annual Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, October 23, 2022 on Lansing’s beautiful scenic river trail,  near César E. Chávez Plaza, located in Old Town, Lansing, MI


Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), is a celebration of life and death of all ages. While the holiday originated in Mexico, it is celebrated all over Latin America and the US.  Come dressed up and ready to celebrate tradition, community, and diversity.


Participants are encouraged to wear traditional Dia de los Muertos face paint, flowers and other attire.  FAMILY FUN EVENT!


Location:  River walk  near César E. Chávez Plaza, 230 E. César E. Chávez. . Lansing, MI intersection of  Turner St  and César E. Chávez in Old Town


Cost:  Pre-registration before October 16th (all ages) $25.00 -  includes 2nd Annual Dia de los Muertos t-shirt.  After pre-registration date $30.00 (all ages), t-shirt as supplies last.  


Awards: All participants will receive a Day of the Dead medal. 


Age Groups: 10 & under,  11-12,  13-14,  15-19,  20-24,  25-29,  30-34, 35-39,  40-44,  45-49,  50-54,  55-59,  60-64,  65-69,  70-79,   80+


Packet pick up: will be held on race day Sunday, October 23rd, starting at 9:00 am at the start/finish area of César E. Chávez Plaza in Old Town. 


Race will start at 11:00 am.  


A portion of the proceeds from the race will go towards the construction of an Archway at the entrance of César E. Chávez Plaza.


The race will be professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation. Results will be live during the race and on this website.
