So hard to believe, but this year will be the THIRTEENTH Annual SFSF Bash and Dash! Just as it has been held each year on July 4th at Walker Road Park, we had hoped for the same this year. This event commemorates the life and birthday of little Sophie Quayle, who passed away on October 6, 2007 from a rare brain tumor (DIPG), at the tender age of four. However amidst the uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the SFSF Board was forced to reevaluate our plans and make a difficult decision.   

We will be moving forward with our event, but we have decided to make it a virtual race. This means you can run, walk, and support our event from any location you choose, at any time you choose, and at any distance you choose. If you’ve never been able to attend our race due to our location in Ohio, this is your year! And for our dedicated supporters who have attended our race in person, you can still register, run or walk, and support SFSF! Although our lives have been put on hold, pediatric brain cancer has not, and we continue to receive family grant requests daily. We may not be able to gather together at Walker Road Park this year, but we can still gather in spirit to celebrate Sophie's birthday.

We realize the situation regarding COVID-19 changes daily, and we are still keeping another plan in our back pocket. We have the option to work with Hermes to have a timed event that will start at Walker Road Park on July 4th, if things change enough by then, and it is deemed safe to do so. It will look different than past years, but might allow us to see so many familiar faces joining together to celebrate Sophie’s birthday and to support such an important cause. Information about this option will be forthcoming as we approach Sophie’s birthday and as we are given updates.
