The Milford Bank and the Milford Moves for Veterans event committee are extremely happy to be back planning and preparing to host our annual event! It’s been quite a year and we are looking forward to seeing you again at our safe, modified run & walk!

6th Annual MILFORD MOVES FOR VETERANS
5K Run / Walk on Sunday, Father’s Day,
June 20, 2021
Start your Father's Day celebration with us! This family-friendly event is a fundraiser honoring local Veterans. All proceeds raised will be donated to Milford's Veterans groups: American Legion, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and Vietnam Veterans of America. We encourage all abilities to join us.
This event will be held in a modified format in compliance with State of CT, city and health department guidelines. An outline of the event safety measures can be found below.
- Sealed/pre wrapped post-race refreshments and fluids.
- The 5k Run/Walk is bib chip-timed from the start & finish- you receive your ‘net’ time.
- Plenty of parking in nearby lots, at The Milford Bank on the green, and Colony Grill parking lots (no parking on the racecourse).
- A special ‘cooling towel’ will be guaranteed to all entrants registered by June 8th.
- A free Kids, safe “Run For The Flag” Fun Run- a non-competitive, 200-yard scamper for kids 12 and younger only - weather permitting. All kids receive a flag and medal at the finish.
AWARDS- sorry no age group nor overall prizes in 2021***
- In accordance with CT state guidelines and mandates we cannot host an awards ceremony nor gatherings. These could be reinstated and we will post on this site if they are allowed.
- We should be able to give out the “Most Patriotic Award” which could be identified at the start. So be prepared! Show off your stars and stripes!
REGISTRATION CLOSES AT 350 people, so sign up now, before it’s too late! Online registration officially closes once we are full but will remain open on Race Day until 15 minutes before the start if we are not full.
There is NO PAPER, IN PERSON REG - all must be done online.

COOLING TOWELS - In order to be guaranteed swag you must pre-reg by June 8.
After that date towels will be ‘as available’

COVID CONCERNS- Thanks to the City Departments of Milford we will be able to present a completely outdoor event. No building will be used, safe distances and safety protocols will be in place, and State guidelines will be met.
HOWEVER-we all must be prepared for any change that can happen at any time which may mean a suspension of this live event, and result in a 'virtual' run.
With fixed costs and pre-payment of many items, this means we CANNOT under any conditions REFUND any registration fees. Whether we are live or virtual our commitment to our Veterans will be maintained. We hope you can support this commitment and join us.
IMPORTANT DETAIL- There will be a 350 person limit for this 5k event. We need 200 people just to break even with our fixed costs! We encourage everyone to donate any additional amount to the Milford Veterans.
MASKS REQUIRED- We must adhere to all safety protocols so please help us by keeping masks on prior to the start line and immediately after you finish. And of course, keep a safe distance when you arrive, warm-up, chat with friends, and after you are done.
MODIFICATIONS FOR A SAFE START- We will be using a chip-timed, "open start" format which has been successfully used in various races around the state. A maximum of five people at the start line leaving at 10-15 second intervals means that a field of 350 can safely clear the start in eleven minutes or less.
WE NEED YOUR HELP FOR A SAFE START- If you are truly at a speedy running level (6-7min pace per mile or under) we urge you to be at the start early and ready to go at 9 am. This will avoid crowding on the course and help everyone to run more safely. Thanks!
ON THE COURSE- We ask you to stay safe, announce if you are passing from behind, and not to run in groups.
