Description

The mission of this 5K Run/Walk is to generate funds for the Gold Star Scholarship Foundation. The foundation provides scholarships for deserving college bound African American males within the Carroll, Douglas, and Paulding County areas. We would love for you to encourage friends and family to donate and or register to join our efforts in person or virtually. We appreciate your participation and ongoing support.

 

We will host BOTH an in-person and virtual run/walk event. 

In-Person Event

We cordially invite you to participate in the 2022 Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated ~ Rho Pi Lambda Chapter ~ Scholarship 5K Run/Walk at Still Family Farm in Powder Springs, Georgia on Saturday August 20, 2022. We will kick off our event at 8:00 am. The unpaved 5K course winds through the tree lined private property of Still Family Farm. The awards ceremony will take place at 9:30 am.

• 1st Overall Male and Female Finisher


• 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place Male and Female in the following age groups:

9 and under
10 - 19
20 - 29
30 - 39
40 - 49
50 - 59
60 - 69
70+

 

Virtual Event 

If you're unable to join us in person, you can still participate virtually. The Virtual run/walk can be done anywhere you choose (track, treadmill, sidewalk, neighborhood block). So, lace up your shoes and get out there to do a 5K run or walk ANY DAY, ANY TIME between August 6, 2022, and August 20, 2022. 

Ways to measure distances:

• 
  Fitness Apps: Run Keeper, Pacer, Strava, Garmin Connect, Nike, MapMyRun, etc. These apps can be downloaded for free on any iOS or Android devices. The Fitness App must be able to measure the run/walk distance of: 5K = 3.1 Miles 


• Smartwatch, Running, or GPS Watches


• 
  Google Map: Google Maps allow the ability to measure distances

 Virtual Guidelines

1. Virtual Registration will begin on Saturday, July 9, 2022.


2. Virtual Registration will close on Saturday, August 20, 2022.


3. Virtual times must be submitted by Saturday, August 27, 2022.


4. Virtual times must be submitted using the Virtual Time Submission Form.


5. The virtual Run/Walk is strictly on an honor system.
