Join alumni, friends, and supporters of Oakwood University for the Oakwood University 5K, a celebration of health, heritage, and purpose. Set against the beautiful backdrop of Washington, DC’s iconic Hains Point, this fast, flat, and scenic out-and-back course offers stunning views of the Potomac River and is perfect for runners and walkers of all levels.

Founded in 1896 by the Seventh-day Adventist Church to educate newly freed African Americans in the South, Oakwood University has long stood as a beacon of academic excellence, Christian education, and social advancement. Located in Huntsville, Alabama, this historically Black institution continues to live out its motto: “Enter to Learn, Depart to Serve.”

Whether you're racing to set a new PR or strolling in support of Oakwood University and its enduring mission, the Oakwood University 5K invites you to move with purpose and celebrate a legacy that continues to inspire generations. Your participation helps support scholarships, campus initiatives, and the next generation of Oakwood leaders who are being equipped to serve God and humanity.
