About This Race
Community Action 400
Saturday, July 18th - Saturday, July 25th
Benefitting Community Action of Orleans & Genesee, Inc
Heeeeee's Baaaaccccckkkkk! In 2023 Brett Sobieraski ran a marathon a day from Florida to New York raising over $100K for the family of fallen Rochester Police Department Officer, Anthony Mazurkiewicz. Now he's back for his next challenge to raise money for a wonderful organization, help folks get up and out walking or running with him in person or virtually and to give back again via his "love" for extreme adventures.
What is this next venture?
A year and a half ago, numerous friends sent Brett Sobieraski an Instagram post about a young man in Australia running around a track for days raising money for a charity. The thought of doing something similar burrowed deep inside his brain (He often jokes that he needs better friends).
WELL.... Challenge Accepted!
Once Brett committed to doing this challenge, it didn’t take long to designate Community Action of Orleans and Genesee as the charity. It’s a fantastic organization that is all about giving hand-ups, not handouts. From their Head Start program (every child deserves to go to preschool), emergency food pantry and Maudie Mae’s Community Kitchen, they help so many people in the community. Their Weatherization Assistance Program lowers energy bills and makes homes safer and healthier. They even provide prom dresses to students who cannot afford them.
Community Action is in desperate need of additional funding due to cutbacks from both federal and state governments. Together, let’s help them so they can continue to change lives for the better. I hope you will come walk or run with me in support of this great organization!
