About This Race

The inaugural Roots of Mercer 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run takes place at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, celebrating the resources, historical sites and community of Mercer County. Participants run, walk, or join the fun run through Kentucky's Bluegrass region while supporting community preservation. All proceeds support We Are Mercer County, a community organization dedicated to protecting and strengthening local resources, agriculture, and future.

We need 6-8 enthusiastic volunteers to work a 3-hour shift on race day (7-10am) to make our race great. Duties/jobs include packet pickup/check-in, parking, course marshal, water stop, food/drink and awards. Volunteers earn a race tshirt by working a full shift.

A chip timed 5K (3.1 mile) run/walk through historic Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill. Surface is a mix of paved roadways and packed gravel. Awards presented for top finishers. T-shirt included with registration (while supplies last).

1 Mile Fun Run (Fastest Kid in Town) 1m
A 1-mile fun run for kids 14 and under. Participants can run or walk, and parents are welcomed to join with your little ones. We will award a "Fastest Kid in Town" award to the top finishing child in the race. This race will not be officially timed. T-shirt included with registration (while supplies last).
