About This Race

The WCYCC Emancipation Celebration 5K Run/Walk commemorates the anniversary of the 1863 Emancipation Proclamation news reaching the enslaved people in Kentucky and Tennessee on August 8, 1863. The race is part of a week of events centered on reflection, freedom, family, fellowship, education, health, and wellness. The scenic route begins and ends at Robert Coleman Park in the Southside of Paducah, KY.
