About This Race
The Flying Anvil 5K is an Independence Day race in Chariton, Iowa, that begins and ends at Johnson Machine Works. The event celebrates the country's 250th anniversary with small-town pride and community spirit, featuring the iconic Flying Anvil at the start. All participants receive a medal, and special awards go to the overall male and female winners. Race-day entries are accepted until 7:45am.

Packet pickup at 318 N. 11th St., Chariton, IA 50049 (Johnson Machine Works): July 3rd 12:00pm to 4:30pm and July 4th 6:45am-7:45am.
