About This Race

Into the Darkness is a night trail run held at Virginia's Explore Park, run by Mountain Junkies. The 3.6 mile course consists of a quarter mile of asphalt road before twisty rolling single track, run after dark with a mandatory light source. Trails are marked with reflective arrows and glow sticks, and it is a family event.

Awards

The top 3 overall male and female finishers in each race receive distinctive awards, and the top three finishers in each age group receive a medal.

Packet pickup Thursday 10/22/26 at Gilbert Chiropractic (10-1 & 3-6pm), and Saturday 10/24/26 at Explore Park from 5:15pm-6:40pm.

Choose Your Distance

Night Trail Run
A light source is mandatory; it is recommended that you have at least a headlamp or flashlight. I personally think it is best to carry one of each. A headlamp to see where you are going and a flashlight to cast shadows and give you depth perception (easier to see those sneaky roots and rocks). We will leave this up to your personal preference. It is recommended that you try your choice of light source under similar conditions prior to running the race.
