About This Race
Toughest Alive: Lazy Mountain Gauntlet ๐ฅ
One mountain.
One title.
One belt.
Who will be the Toughest on the Mountain?
3,000 feet up.
Back down.
And for a fewโฆ back up again.
This is the First Annual Toughest Alive: Lazy Mountain Gauntlet. A title belt will be won in this contest...and require defending it to keep it--or cede it to the new title holder.
โก THE TEST
This is not a typical race.
The Lazy Mountain Gauntlet is a 6-mile mountain loop gaining over 3,000 feet before descending back to the start.
But you decide:
Is one enough?
Or you crazy enough to go back up?!
๐ THE COURSE
- ~6 miles per loop
- ~3,000 ft vertical gain
- steep, relentless climbing
- technical descent
Simple in design.
Brutal in execution.
No gimmicks.
No shortcuts.
Just you vs the mountain.
โก Choose Your Division
Gauntlet (Single Loop)
One ascent. One descent.
A pure test of pacing, strength, and grit.
Double Gauntlet (2 Loops)
Up. Down.
Then do it again.
This is the premier divisionโand where the title is decided. And the title belt won (and lost).
Gauntlet Relay (2-Person Team)
Partner 1 completes Loop 1
Partner 2 completes Loop 2
Split the work. Still earn it.
Ruck Division
Take on the same courseโunder load.
Standards:
- Men: 35 lb (dry weight, not including water)
- Women: 20 lb (dry weight)
Rules:
- Weight must be carried for the entire event
- Subject to random checks at start and finish
It's an epic challenge. A different kind of suffering.
๐ฅ The Belt: Toughest on the Mountain
Most races give you a medal.
This one gives you something to defend.
The fastest finisher in the Double Gauntlet earns:
- The Toughest Alive Championship Belt
- The Title: Toughest on the Mountain
This belt is not permanent.
- The winner becomes the defending champion
- They are expected to return the following year to defend the title
If they do not returnโor are beatenโthe belt is ceded to the new champion
Every year, the question resets:
Who is the Toughest on the Mountain?
