About This Race
The John Woodruff Race is a long-standing annual event held in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, honoring the legacy of local hero John Woodruff, who captured the Gold Medal in the 800-meter race at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. The race winds through the streets of Connellsville’s south side and neighboring South Connellsville, drawing participants and spectators together in celebration of Woodruff’s historic achievement and lasting impact on the community.
