The HOKA Pacific Trails California by UTMB 50K takes place on a previously private 30,000-acre ranch in California's Santa Ynez Valley, offering runners an exclusive coastal backcountry experience on a point-to-point course. The route follows historic ranching roads and wagon tracks with flowing singletrack through oak-lined canyons, sweeping ridgetops, vineyards, and olive groves on Rancho San Fernando Rey, a ranch dating to the Mexican land grant era. With 1,550 meters of elevation gain, the course provides glimpses of the Pacific Ocean and passes through coastal sage scrub and live oak woodland.
