IRONMAN 70.3 Austin takes place at Walter E. Long Park in Austin, Texas — nicknamed the live music capital of the world — and serves as the IRONMAN 70.3 U.S. Collegiate National Championship. Athletes begin with a 1.2-mile swim in Decker Lake, a freshwater recreational lake with average temperatures of 72–78 degrees Fahrenheit, before heading out on a scenic 56-mile rural bike ride through Texas farmlands featuring cedar vistas, sunflower fields, and ranches. The day concludes with a three-loop half marathon that returns athletes to the shores of Decker Lake and finishes indoors at Luedecke Arena, one of the only indoor IRONMAN 70.3 finish lines on the circuit.
