About This Race
The Abbott Chicago 5K is a marquee weekend race produced by Chicago Event Management as part of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon experience. Staged in downtown Chicago on marathon weekend, the 5K weaves 3.1 miles past iconic city landmarks on closed streets, drawing runners who use it as a shakeout run before the marathon or as a standalone race-weekend celebration. All finishers receive a knit hat and a personalized finisher medal. The event follows USATF and World Athletics rules, with digital clocks at the start and finish and a 45-minute course time limit.
