Sawatch Ascent

The Sawatch Ascent is a demanding high-alpine 50K that takes runners deep into the heart of the Sawatch Range, ascending from the base of Mount Princeton in Nathrop to a breathtaking 13,150-foot summit. Organized by Freestone Endurance, the course follows 26 miles of singletrack — including 12 miles along the storied Colorado Trail — plus a mix of pavement and gravel, accumulating 7,000 feet of vertical gain within an 11-hour time limit. Fall foliage transforms the aspen forests and canyon walls into vibrant color. Finishers receive professional race photos, a finisher medal, complimentary beverages, and a race shirt. Optional camping at the start/finish adds to the backcountry experience. Pairing this race with the West Line Winder the prior weekend earns the coveted Sawatch 50/50 belt buckle.
