IRONMAN 70.3 North Carolina is a half-distance triathlon set in Wilmington, North Carolina, beginning with a 1.2-mile saltwater swim in the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway channel at Wrightsville Beach. Athletes then ride a flat and fast 56-mile bike course along rural country roads before crossing the Cape Fear River on return to downtown, and complete a scenic one-loop 13.1-mile run with the finish line located across from the iconic Battleship North Carolina.
