Frozen Head Ultra Marathon

The Frozen Head Ultra Marathon takes runners through Frozen Head State Park in the rugged Cumberland Mountains of East Tennessee, offering a loop-based trail course through 24,000 acres of steep, forested wilderness. The race features two distances — a half marathon and a 50K — both completing laps of a challenging loop with creek crossings, exposed roots, and ridge sections, gaining over 1,667 feet of elevation per loop. Organized in cooperation with Tennessee State Parks, the event carries an old-school ultra running spirit welcoming both seasoned competitors and first-time ultra participants.
