About This Race
The Hood to Coast Relay, billed as the Mother of All Relays, is the largest running and walking relay race in the world, drawing participants from over 40 countries and all 50 states annually. Teams of 8 to 12 runners cover 196 miles from the summit of Mount Hood to the Pacific Ocean beaches, traversing unique and beautiful Oregon terrain across 36 legs and 35 exchange points. The event has sold out via lottery for over 36 consecutive years, making it one of the most coveted relay entries in distance running. A companion Portland to Coast event covers 128 miles for walking teams.
