About This Race
Hood to Coast is the world's most popular relay race, held annually on the last weekend in August across a two-day event. Teams of 8-12 runners relay 196 miles from Mt. Hood in Oregon to the Pacific Coast, encountering diverse terrain including mountain passes, forested sections, and coastal highways. The flagship event draws tens of thousands of participants annually from across the globe, with 2026 memberships sold out and a strong lottery system in place. The organization produces additional races year-round including Portland to Coast relay, High Desert Relay, Seabrook Relay, Turkey Trot, Red White & Blues 5K/10K, Providence Heart to Start, and SHOC Sunset Run & Walk. Hood to Coast has expanded internationally to China (mainland and sea) and Dubai. The event has become a cultural institution in the Pacific Northwest, drawing elite runners and fundraisers alongside recreational teams.
