About This Race
The Gene Groves Memorial Firecracker 2-miler is a Fourth of July race held in Ripley, WV as part of America's Largest Small-Town 4th of July Celebration. The fast, mostly flat 2-mile course runs along the city streets and kicks off immediately before the Grand Parade. The race was rebranded to honor its founder Gene Groves. Overall male and female runners receive trophies and a cash prize, with medals for the top three in each age bracket.
