About This Race
The John Colter Run is a classic 7.5-mile Bozeman-area trail race at Missouri Headwaters State Park outside Three Forks, MT, re-enacting John Colter's escape from the Blackfeet. The course runs the first 1.5 miles on a paved/gravel country road and the remaining miles on rugged cross-country trail, including two water crossings under a railroad bridge and across the Gallatin River. The race is capped at 300 runners and ends with a post-race barbecue, beer, and live music.
