Runner Tips & Advice 4
Helpful advice from runners who've been there
[Category: logistics] With the updated 5:30am start time, prepare for running in darkness. Bring a headlamp or wear reflective gear for the first hour. Set multiple alarms and arrange transportation the night before as public transit may be limited.
[Category: course] The flat course is perfect for even pacing, but don't go out too fast. The minimal elevation (max 83 feet) means you can maintain consistent splits throughout. Use the ocean views as mental breaks during tough miles.
[Category: weather] Despite the early start, you'll likely finish in full sun with limited shade on the course. Apply sunscreen before the race and wear a hat or visor. The oceanfront sections can be particularly exposed.
[Category: logistics] Parking near the Marina Green start/finish can be very limited. Consider staying at a nearby hotel or using ride-share services. If driving, arrive extra early and have a backup parking plan.
